Coaster Gift Set Holder
~ free crochet pattern ~

I have been getting many orders for these Sunflower Coasters lately, and so I decided to make a little case to hold the crochet coasters in to make a nice gift set! I made mine to fit a set of 8 coasters. I think it adds a nice little touch when gifting these crochet coasters – what do you think?

SUPPLIES

NOTES

  • Coaster case is designed to fit 8 of these Sunflower Coasters, which measures approx. 4.25 inches wide each.
  • Changing colors: Pick up the new color and join by pulling up a loop in the stitch after the sl st join of the previous round.
  • Gauge is not essential – just keep your tension consistent throughout.

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

With color A, start with a magic ring, ch2.

Round 1: Work 12 dc in magic ring, sl st to first dc to join (12)

Round 2: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc here and throughout), dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to first dc (not the ch 3) to join (24)

Round 3: ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join (48)

Round 4: ch 1 (counts as 1 sc here and throughout), sc in same st, sc in next st, *2 sc in next st, sc in next st*, rep *-* around, sl st to first sc to join (72)

Round 5: Working in BLO (the loop farthest from you), ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first sc to join (72)

Round 6: Working in both loops again, ch 3, dc in each st around, sl st to first dc to join (72)

Round 7: ch 3, dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog, *dc in next 4 sts, dc2tog*, rep *-* around, sl st to first dc to join (60)

Round 8: ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, dc2tog, *dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog*, rep *-* around, sl st to first dc to join (48)

Round 9: Change to color B, ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first sc to join (48)

Round 10: Change to color A, ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first sc to join (48)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sew on decorative button (optional). I happened to find a button resembling a sunflower and thought, wow, how perfect!! I’ve also tied a ribbon around my gift set to keep it together. Alternatively, you can create a lid for the holder, see below!

An optional idea – create a lid: make an extra Sunflower Coaster and use as a lid for the holder. Perhaps, the lid should be a little bigger, so try a bigger hook or do an extra round of sc. Then, once you have the lid ready, whip stitch the lid and case together. You will probably want to whip stitch together 8 to 10 stitches so the lid can flip open. Make a few chains and form a loop so you can connect the loop with the button on the case.

Enjoy! ♥
