Work on the eyes, snout and ears before stuffing the head & closing up.

Round 17: sc2tog around (6)

Sl st to join & fasten off. Weave in ends.

Eyes
Place safety eyes (9mm) on CuPig. I placed mine about 6 stitches apart. If the piggy is made for babies or small children, please do not use safety eyes as it is a choking hazard. Rather, cut 2 small circle shapes using black felt, then use craft glue to glue felt eyes on the face. Or, you can embroider on the eyes using black embroidery thread.

Eyebrows
With black thread, embroider a slightly curved line above each eye. Go over the line several times to make a thick eyebrow.

Ears (make 2)
With pink yarn, start with a magic ring.

Round 1: 5 sc in magic ring (5)

Round 2: sc in each st around (5)

Round 3: 2 sc in each st around (10)

Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts*, rep * – * once around (12)

Rounds 5-7: sc in each st around (12)

Fasten off. Sew on head.

There is no need to stuff the ears. I folded down the ears a little to resemble a pig’s ears (without sewing them down).

Snout
With white or pink yarn, start with a magic ring.

Round 1: 5 sc in magic ring (5)

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (10)

Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts*, rep * – * 2 more times, 1 sc in last st (13)

Round 4: *sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts*, rep * – * once, 1 sc in last st (11)

Fasten off. Sew on heart buttons. There is no need to stuff the snout.

Body
(worked from bottom to top)

With pink yarn, start with a magic ring.

Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12)

Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st*, rep * – * around (18)

Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts*, rep * – * around (24)

Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts*, rep * – * around (30)

Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts*, rep * – * around (36)

Rounds 7-15: sc in each st around (36)

Round 16: *sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts*, rep * – * around (30)

Round 17: *sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts*, rep * – * around (24)

Round 18: *sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts*, rep * – * around (18)

Round 19: *sc2tog, sc in next st*, rep * – * around (12)

Fasten off. Work on the arms and then stuff the body.

Arms (make 2)
*Stuff arm as you go.

With pink yarn, start a magic ring.

Round 1: 4 sc in magic ring (4)

Round 2: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st*, rep * – * around (6)

Round 3-5: sc in each st around (6)

Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts*, rep * – * around (8)

Round 7-8:  sc in each st around (8)

Change to white yarn to begin the hooves.

Round 9: sc in next 4 sts, ch 1, turn (4)

Round 10: sc2tog, sc2tog, ch 1, turn (2)

Round 11: sc2tog, ch 1, turn (1)

Round 12: sc in next st, ch 1 (1)

To finish up, sc along the two side edges together to form one hoof and then sl st in next st.

Repeat rounds 9 – 12 for the other hoof. Sl st to join and fasten off.
Sew arms to pig’s body.

Heart
Follow the heart pattern HERE by Kim Layton of EverythingEtsy.com (a video tutorial is now added!).

I used red yarn and a G/4.0mm hook. Sew the finished heart to pig’s body with two open sides if you are planning to use the heart to hold a crochet hook (see photos below for reference).

Option A: Sew heart on body and leave as is…or…

Option B: Sew the big heart on piggy’s body, leaving two sides open and put a crochet hook through (acts as a cupid’s arrow!). This makes a great Valentine’s Day gift to any crocheter!!

Enjoy! ♥
